After interdisciplinary studies of art, communication and Japanese language, David Glaettli (*1977, Zurich, Switzerland) was trained in industrial design in Milan, Italy and Lausanne, Switzerland where he graduated from ECAL (University of Art and Design Lausanne). He worked in the fields of product design and interior coordination in Zurich, before moving to Japan in 2008. In Osaka he joined the studio of Teruhiro Yanagihara as associate designer and design director, assigned with projects from product- to exhibition design and branding for Japanese and international clients. From the beginning of 2013 David Glaettli is operating independently between Zurich, Switzerland and his studio and home in Kyoto, working as an art director, designer and design consultant with international designers and brands and Japanese manufacturers, building bridges between Europe and Japan. In march 2013, he has been appointed the new creative director of Karimoku New Standard.
